Welcome! We were born and raised Texas girls - we've lived in Virginia 8 years and love it! We jump at the chance to travel. Exploring new places with camera in hand are happy times for us and we're always up for a trip to the beach! We attended classes together toward a degree in Photography & Media. We're all about Starbucks, both gold card members of course. We've been known to binge Gossip Girl and enjoy "reality" tv though we know it's anything but... We keep our Fitbits busy! Fresh flowers are a must - Jodi will happily choose roses - Alyssa is more of a wildflower. Our favorite food and wine are both Italian. We soak up the energy in the city and have a flair for fixing up!
We enjoy a light style of photography. We look for elements in our locations to add texture to our images, often using creamy foregrounds and bokeh. We delight in pops of color and creating a gallery that flows seamlessly. We prefer lovely natural light and capturing moments with our clients that are a perfect collection of lightly posed and candid images.
I'm so grateful for the moments of life I've photographed; time passes so quickly and being able to savor memories with an image is precious. I delight in photographing with warm natural light and being creative with emotion. I'm happily married to my best friend and high school sweetheart...he's truly the one whom my soul loves...more brilliantly every day. We've been blessed with two awesome children and I'm so thankful they are also my best friends. I seek adventure, although I'm not a risk taker. I'm an organized person; simplifies life. I enjoy all things home decor. Running relaxes me. Fall is my favorite season. Paris has a special place in my heart. Coffee is always good. A great book is a treasure. Cooking is a joy. Chocolate is my go-to dessert, but almond cake is always my birthday choice. I will always embrace time spent in Italy. Evenings outdoors visiting with vino are a beautiful treat. I cherish time with family, my greatest blessings. I love God and hope to live a life that reflects His love in me. ~ Jodi
I've been comfortable around cameras from a young age ensuing from my mom's affinity for photography, which makes me ever happier to be the "lyss" half of jo'lyss photography by her side! I find the opportunity to capture special moments within an image to be incredible, whether it be once in a lifetime memories or simply the little things held dear to the heart. I truly adore photographing candid portraits full of genuine emotion; I feel like a picture always shines brighter when one's natural personality is portrayed. In my leisure everyday life, I can often be found completely enthralled in a book...I cherish reading for the ability to experience countless adventures all from the warm comfort of my home. Although I do appreciate a spontaneous outing in the real world as well, a bustling city full of energy, a relaxing shell-search on a beach, or a stroll through woods full of birdsong are just a few of my happy places. Coffee keeps me going, especially if brewed from a deliciously dark roast. I've had a soft spot for animals ever since I can remember. Much of my time can also be spent caring for little kiddos and finding such joy in the way they see the world. Finally, loved ones are everything to me...from my sweet family to my close friends and even my little pup, spending time with any one of them is priceless. ~ Alyssa
